Connecting Singapore with Korean Heritage
Founded on a passion for cultural exchange and authentic travel experiences
Return HomeOur Story
Horizon East was established in 2012 by a group of travel enthusiasts who recognized a growing interest among Singaporeans in authentic Korean cultural experiences. What began as a small operation organizing temple stays evolved into a comprehensive travel service connecting Southeast Asian travelers with the richness of Korean heritage.
The founders, having spent years living and working throughout South Korea, understood that meaningful travel extends beyond tourist attractions. They envisioned journeys that would allow visitors to participate in daily Korean life, from sharing meals with local families to learning traditional crafts from master artisans.
Over the years, we have built lasting relationships with temple communities, boutique accommodations, cultural centers, and local guides throughout Korea. These partnerships enable us to offer experiences that go deeper than standard tourism, creating connections that often last well beyond the journey itself.
Today, Horizon East specializes in New Year travel to South Korea, a season when Korean traditions are most vibrantly alive. We help travelers experience the lunar new year celebrations, winter landscapes, and the unique energy that emerges during this special time of reflection and renewal.
Our Guiding Principles
Cultural Respect
We approach Korean culture with deep respect and humility, ensuring our travelers engage authentically with traditions, customs, and local communities. Every experience is designed to honor and celebrate Korean heritage.
Meaningful Connections
Travel becomes transformative when we connect with people. We facilitate genuine interactions between travelers and Korean hosts, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and lasting friendships.
Sustainable Practice
We partner with accommodations and services committed to environmental responsibility. Our itineraries favor locally-owned businesses and support community-based tourism initiatives throughout Korea.
Personal Growth
We believe travel should enrich the soul. Whether through meditation at a mountain temple or conversations with local artisans, we create space for reflection and personal discovery.
Quality and Professional Standards
Partner Verification
Every accommodation, guide, and experience provider undergoes thorough evaluation before joining our network. We personally visit each location, assess safety standards, and verify the authenticity of cultural programs offered.
Cultural Expertise
Our team includes Korean language speakers and cultural specialists who provide accurate context and interpretation throughout the journey. We ensure travelers understand the significance of ceremonies, customs, and traditions they encounter.
Safety Protocols
Comprehensive travel insurance guidance, emergency contact systems, and 24-hour support ensure peace of mind. We maintain detailed safety procedures for winter travel, temple stays, and outdoor activities.
Ethical Standards
We operate with complete transparency regarding pricing, itinerary details, and any limitations or challenges travelers may encounter. Our commitment is to honest representation and realistic expectations.
Continuous Improvement
After each journey, we gather detailed feedback and conduct internal reviews. This ongoing evaluation allows us to refine experiences, address concerns, and maintain the highest service standards.
Why We Focus on New Year Travel
The lunar new year season in Korea represents a unique convergence of tradition and modern life. During this period, families reunite, ancient customs are practiced with renewed vigor, and the entire country pauses to honor ancestors and welcome the coming year.
For travelers, this season offers exceptional opportunities to witness Korean culture in its most authentic expression. Temple ceremonies take on heightened significance, traditional foods appear in markets and homes, and the atmosphere carries a sense of communal celebration rarely experienced during other times.
Winter in Korea presents its own beauty – snow-dusted temples, quiet hiking trails, and steaming hot springs provide a peaceful contrast to the festive energy. The cold season encourages travelers to slow down, reflect, and engage more deeply with their surroundings.
We have chosen to specialize in this season because it exemplifies everything we value: cultural depth, meaningful experience, and the opportunity to participate in traditions that have shaped Korean society for centuries.
